Parties that POP - Table Settings

Great dinner parties or celebrations deserve an amazing table setting. Whether you include fresh flowers, candles, place cards, menu’s or props, your creativity is endless and it does not have to cost a fortune. In addition, there is so much to think about - your event's theme, guest list, menu, favours, event tone (formal or informal?), your budget, date, time etc.

Dining rooms are the center of any home and a place where all the family comes together for meals. A good decorated place to eat lifts the mood and is assured to make the experience of enjoying good food even better.  If you are looking for an intimate evening of laughter and conversation, nothing quite compares to the refined comforts of a dinner party at home.  The best dinner parties seem to create this elegant sense of intimacy almost magically, out of some kind of effortless chemistry.

Once your guests step into your home, you want them to feel welcome, enjoy themselves and you would like them to say “WOW! Look what you’ve done for the party”.  Presentation is everything and it should always reflect in your work.  I especially like the 'photo runner table setting' for a special family celebration in the above photos, its memorable, educational yet fun!  LOVE it

Decorating tips:

  • The easiest way to add style to your dinning table is to add a tablecloth. If you desire a simple yet elegant look, then go for plain coloured tablecloth.  Tablecloths don’t need to be expensive; I bought a lot of mine on eBay.  For special occasions, I suggest you purchase either silk or organza tablecloths.
  • Explore natural decorating items for your dinning table that are free. A vase of freshly picked flowers not only attracts attention as a centrepiece, it smells great.  Also, a glass bowl filled with fresh fruit such as limes, apples or oranges is eye catching.
  • To add a touch of romance or create a relaxed atmosphere to a dinning table is to use candles.  Whether you use tea light candles, floating candles, short pillar candles or tall tapering candles, it all depends on your theme.

Keepsake idea:

  • A Menu Framed - place your hand written menu’s in photo frames and display them on your table setting.  This is also a great keepsake for your guests to take home as a nice reminder of the evening.

Remember, it’s all about honouring your guests, keeping calm and enjoying the party!
